BMI Announces New Member of Staff Team

Dr. Richard Blackaby and the Blackaby Ministries International Team are excited to announce the addition of Karen Kemp to the BMI Staff family as Director of Marketing/Donor Relations. Karen has more than twenty five years of nonprofit leadership experience in facilitating strategic planning and building strategic communications. She has executed successful fundraising campaigns, managed major gift initiatives and helped increase brand awareness of the organizations she has served.

A lifelong resident of Georgia, Karen resides in Atlanta where she has deep ties in the nonprofit, government and foundation sectors. Karen is active in community affairs and serves on the state board of the Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault.  A former Rotary president, she was recognized with a Martin Luther King Dream Award for her work on behalf of Georgia children and their families.  Karen volunteers with Street Grace, a Christian organization with a mission to stop human trafficking.

Karen attended the University of Georgia and Georgia State University, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science.  She studied abroad at the Alliance Francaise which began a lifelong love of French culture and world travel.

Karen and her husband Scott have two grown children, Caitlyn Cooper and Kellen Carr, as well as son-in-law Toby Carr.  They are the proud grandparents of Evans Catherine “Evie” Carr, age 3, and Leland Michael Carr, age 1.  Scott is a retired Marine Corps officer who works for Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. The family attends Peachtree Presbyterian Church, where Karen is involved with Women’s Bible Study and missions.

Dr. Blackaby shares his thoughts on the addition of Karen to the BMI team: We at BMI are excited to have Karen joining our team. God has been using BMI in these days to encourage many large Christian ministries as well as churches across America. God has also sent us to numerous countries around the world, including some very strategic, and at times dangerous, places. God is also using us to equip business people to be on mission with Him in the marketplace. These efforts require significant financial investment. I am looking forward to seeing how God uses Karen to meet those people God is leading to partner with us. I know she will bless all those she encounters!

We welcome Karen to the BMI team and look forward to all that she brings to Blackaby Ministries and the ways God will use her in the days ahead. You can reach Karen at k.kemp@blackaby.org
