Dr. Henry Blackaby

Henry T. Blackaby is the founder and President emeritus of Blackaby Ministries International, an organization built to help people experience God.

Born in British Columbia, Dr. Blackaby has devoted his lifetime to ministry. He has served as a music director, education director, and pastor in churches in California and Canada, as well as president of Canadian Baptist Theological College for seven years and president of the Canadian Southern Baptist Conference. He has provided leadership to thousands of pastors and laymen across North America and has spoken to missionaries and other groups in over ninety countries of the world.

Dr. Blackaby studied English and history at the University of British Columbia as an undergraduate and earned his B.D. and Th.M. from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds four honorary doctorate degrees.

In 1970, Dr. Blackaby followed God’s call to pastor a tiny church in Saskatoon, Canada. Not only did Faith Baptist Church grow to many times its original membership, but it led to the founding of thirty-eight new churches and became a center for pastoral training.

Dr. Blackaby went on to serve on staff at the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Through the Home Mission Board, he led revival and spiritual awakening in the life of the convention. He also served as special assistant to the presidents of the International Mission Board and LifeWay Christian Resources. Although he is now officially retired, Dr. Blackaby continues to provide consultative leadership in the life of the Christian community.

Blackaby has published an array of spiritually influential messages in his lifetime, most notably Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God (1990), which has sold 7 million copies and has been translated into over 45 languages. His books, Experiencing God Together and Experiencing God Day by Day Devotional, both won the Gold Medallion Award.

Henry lives with his wife, Marilynn, in Atlanta, Georgia. He has five children (Richard, Tom, Melvin, Norman, and Carrie), all of whom are serving in Christian ministry, fourteen grandchildren, and three-great grandchildren. His long-range goal is to encourage revival and spiritual awakening in the United States, Canada, and across the world through speaking, praying, enlisting, writing and mentoring. His hobbies are reading and traveling.


Dr. Richard Blackaby

Richard is the President of Blackaby Ministries International and lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Richard travels internationally speaking on spiritual leadership in the home, church, and marketplace, as well as on spiritual awakening, experiencing God, and the Christian life. Richard regularly ministers to Christian CEOs as well as church and family leaders.

Richard grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He has been married to Lisa since August 6, 1983 and has three adult, married children: Mike, Daniel, and Carrie. Richard also has four amazing grandsons!

Richard earned a B.A. in history from the University of Saskatchewan. He has an M.Div and Ph.D. in church history from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and an honorary doctorate from Dallas Baptist University.

Richard served as a senior pastor at Friendship Baptist Church in Winnipeg, and then as the president of the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada, for 13 years. He continues to serve as the seminary’s Chancellor.

Rick Fisher

Rick Fisher serves as Vice President for Blackaby Ministries International. He and his wife, Debbie, live in Easley, South Carolina, and have two daughters, Jamie and Betsy, sons-in-law Rob and Lucas, and five grandchildren.

Rick earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Gardner Webb University and a Master’s of Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served 30+ years of ministry in the local church (18 years of that as Senior Pastor) and most recently, 8 years in non-profit ministry.

Rick is available to churches, associations, corporations with focuses in the areas of spiritual leadership, leadership development, revival/awakening, prayer/prayer ministry and other ministry related areas.


Dr. Steve Parsons

Stephen serves as the Manager of IT and Online Training for Blackaby Ministries International. His responsibilities include oversight of computer technologies, development of on-line courses, and teaching.   In addition to his responsibilities with Blackaby Ministries, Stephen is the Director of Online Education at the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary where he also teaches as a Professor of Archaeology.

Prior to joining Blackaby Ministries Stephen was employed as a Chemical Engineer and served as a Teaching Fellow of Biblical Backgrounds at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Stephen and his wife, Jana, live in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada with their daughter Kseniya.


Dr. Bob Royall

Bob serves as Director of Coaching for BMI providing overall guidance for all aspects of BMI coaching.  He has invested his life in coaching and mentoring Christian leaders in a variety of contexts including in collegiate ministry, as a seminary professor, professional coach, and pastor. Bob is member of the International Coach Federation and the Georgia Coaches Association.





Karen Kemp

Karen serves as the Director of Marketing/Donor Relations for BMI.  She has more than twenty five years of nonprofit leadership experience in facilitating strategic planning and building strategic communications. She has executed successful fundraising campaigns, managed major gift initiatives and helped increase brand awareness of the organizations she has served.

A lifelong resident of Georgia, Karen resides in Atlanta where she has deep ties in the nonprofit, government and foundation sectors. Karen is active in community affairs and serves on the state board of the Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault. A former Rotary president, she was recognized with a Martin Luther King Dream Award for her work on behalf of Georgia children and their families. Karen volunteers with Street Grace, a Christian organization with a mission to stop human trafficking.

Karen attended the University of Georgia and Georgia State University, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science. She studied abroad at the Alliance Francaise which began a lifelong love of French culture and world travel.

Karen and her husband Scott have two grown children, Caitlyn Cooper and Kellen Carr, as well as son-in-law Toby Carr. They are the proud grandparents of Evans Catherine “Evie” Carr, age 3, and Leland Michael Carr, age 1. Scott is a retired Marine Corps officer who works for Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. The family attends Peachtree Presbyterian Church, where Karen is involved with Women’s Bible Study and missions.


Sam Camp

Sam is the Director of Media for Blackaby Ministries International. He holds a two-year Bible degree, a BBA, and an MBA. He enjoys traveling, making films, and photography. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Carrie.




Brett Pyle

Brett Pyle is an Execute Coach/Trainer for Blackaby Ministries International. He has vast experience in working with corporations worldwide. Brett is passionate about facilitating successful business & leadership transformations with leaders who run their own companies. He has an extensive background in consulting with corporate CEOs and brings that wisdom to his work with BMI.




Sarah Blackaby

Sarah is an Executive Administrative Assistant and the Social Media Coordinator for Blackaby Ministries International. Sarah was born and raised in Canada but moved to San Francisco with her husband, Daniel, in 2010. She graduated from art school in Vancouver, BC, where she took Marketing & Management with a focus in fashion. Sarah is passionate about the arts, whether it is graphic design, painting, or literature.  She currently resides in Georgia.




Carrie Blackaby Camp

Carrie is an Executive Ministry Assistant at BMI. She is the daughter of Richard Blackaby and the oldest granddaughter of Henry Blackaby. She holds a BA in English, an MFA in Nonfiction Writing, and a MTS degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She is an avid reader of nerdy literature, loves to travel, and has run marathons. She writes for nextgenerationbmi.org, is the coauthor of Rebellious Parenting with her father, and writes a travel blog called “Maple and Maps” with her husband Sam. She lives in Atlanta.


Bob Payne

Bob is the Director of Experiencing God Weekends for Blackaby Ministries International.  He has served under the personal mentorship and teaching of Dr. Henry Blackaby, for twenty years.  Both Henry & Marilynn Blackaby are members of Bob’s Sunday School class.

Bob Payne has thirty years of corporate executive experience and has developed a reputation as a gifted teacher, preacher, discipleship leader, and prayer catalyst. Bob is a member of First Baptist Church Jonesboro, Licensed and Ordained through the Church. His formal training was initiated at the Georgia Military College, and later in life at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His thesis research was devoted to the discipline of church corporate prayer.  He has served in more than 250 churches in the US, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, the middle-east, Nigeria and Sudan.  Bob also served as the Bi-Vocational Pastor for the Eastside Baptist Church Campus of FBC Jonesboro for over three years.  He has lead Experiencing God classes all over the world, as well as the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, and two seminaries in West Africa.
