Dr. Henry Blackaby

Henry T. Blackaby is the founder and president emeritus of Blackaby Ministries International, an organization built to help people experience God.

Born in British Columbia, Dr. Blackaby has devoted his lifetime to ministry. He has served as a music director, education director, and pastor in churches in California and Canada, as well as president of Canadian Baptist Theological College for seven years and president of the Canadian Southern Baptist Conference. He has provided leadership to thousands of pastors and laymen across North America and has spoken to missionaries and other groups in over ninety countries of the world.

Dr. Blackaby studied English and history at the University of British Columbia as an undergraduate and earned his B.D. and Th.M. from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds four honorary doctorate degrees.

In 1970, Dr. Blackaby followed God’s call to pastor a tiny church in Saskatoon, Canada. Not only did Faith Baptist Church grow to many times its original membership, but it led to the founding of thirty-eight new churches and became a center for pastoral training.

Dr. Blackaby went on to serve on staff at the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Through the Home Mission Board, he led revival and spiritual awakening in the life of the convention. He also served as special assistant to the presidents of the International Mission Board and LifeWay Christian Resources. Although he is now officially retired, Dr. Blackaby continues to provide consultative leadership in the life of the Christian community.

Blackaby has published an array of spiritually influential messages in his lifetime, most notably Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God (1990), which has sold 7 million copies and has been translated into over 45 languages. His books, Experiencing God Together and Experiencing God Day by Day Devotional, both won the Gold Medallion Award.

Henry lives with his wife, Marilynn, in Rex, Georgia. He has five children (Richard, Tom, Melvin, Norman, and Carrie), all of whom are serving in Christian ministry, and fourteen grandchildren. His long-range goal is to encourage revival and spiritual awakening in the United States, Canada, and across the world through speaking, praying, enlisting, writing and mentoring. His hobbies are reading and traveling.


Dr. Richard Blackaby

Richard is the president of Blackaby Ministries International and lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Richard travels internationally speaking on spiritual leadership in the home, church, and marketplace as well as on spiritual awakening, experiencing God, and the Christian life. Richard regularly ministers to Christian CEOs, church, and family leaders.

Richard grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He has been married to Lisa for 31 years and has three kids: Mike, 29, married to Sarah. He is the single adult minister at FBC Jonesboro in Atlanta and completing a Ph.D. in Apologetics; Daniel, 27, married to Sarah. He has written five books and is working on a Ph.D. in Christianity and Culture; and Carrie, 23, who works at BMI and is completing a Masters degree in theology.

Richard earned a B.A. in history from the University of Saskatchewan. He has an M.Div and Ph.D. in church history from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and an honorary doctorate from Dallas Baptist University.

Richard served as a senior pastor at Friendship Baptist Church in Winnipeg, and then as the president of the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane, Alberta Canada for 13 years. He continues to serve as the seminary’s Chancellor.

Richard has written or co-authored over thirty books, including: The Seasons of God: How the Shifting Patterns of Your Life Reveal His Purposes for You; The Inspired Leader: 101 Biblical Reflections for Becoming a Person of Influence; Unlimiting God: Increasing Your Capacity to Experience the Divine; Putting a Face on Grace: Living a Life Worth Passing On; Experiencing God at Home, and Customized Parenting in a Trending World.

He has also co-authored many books with his father, Henry, including: Experiencing God: Revised Edition; Spiritual Leadership: Moving People on to God’s Agenda; Experiencing God: Day by Day; Hearing God’s Voice; Called to Be God’s Leader: Lessons from the Life of Joshua; Being Still With God: A 365 Daily Devotional; Fresh Encounter: God’s Pattern for Spiritual Awakening; and God in the Marketplace: 45 Questions Fortune 500 Executives Ask about Faith, Life, and Business. He also served as the managing editor/co-author of the Blackaby Study Bible.



Rick Fisher

Rick Fisher serves as Vice President for Administration at BMI. He and his wife Debbie, live in Easley, South Carolina and have two daughters, Jamie and Betsy, sons-in-law Rob and Lucas, and three grandsons, Thomas and Ashley and Jase.

Rick earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Gardner Webb University and a Master’s of Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served 30+ years of ministry in the local church (18 years of that as Senior Pastor) and most recently, 5 years as Director of a non-profit foundation in the corporate world. He has previously assisted BMI with development and implementation of spiritual leadership conferences in 2010 and 2011.

Rick is available to churches, associations, corporations with focuses in the areas of spiritual leadership, leadership development, prayer and prayer ministry, developing a mission-focused congregation and other ministry related areas.


Dr. Tom Blackaby

Dr. Tom Blackaby is the second son of Henry and Marilynn Blackaby and serves as the International Director for Blackaby Ministries International. He has served 5 churches in 3 countries as an associate pastor (Music/Education/Youth) and most recently as senior pastor of North Sea Baptist Church in Stavanger, Norway (2000-2007).

Tom is available to speak at a wide variety of venues and events on topics such as Experiencing God, Spiritual Leadership, Discipleship, Prayer, creating a God-Centered Home, Missional Living and more. Tom enjoys playing musical instruments, outdoor activities, woodwork, and spending time with his family. Tom and his wife Kim have three children and reside near Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada.


Dr. Steve Parsons

Stephen serves as the Manager of IT and Online Training for Blackaby Ministries International. His responsibilities include oversight of computer technologies, development of on-line courses, and teaching.   In addition to his responsibilities with Blackaby Ministries, Stephen is the Director of Online Education at the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary where he also teaches as a Professor of Archaeology.

Prior to joining Blackaby Ministries Stephen was employed as a Chemical Engineer and served as a Teaching Fellow of Biblical Backgrounds at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Stephen and his wife Jana live in Cochrane, Alberta Canada with their daughter Kseniya. Prior to moving to Cochrane in January 2003 the Parsons lived in Arlington, Texas.


Dr. Bob Royall

Bob serves as Director of Coaching for BMI providing overall guidance for all aspects of BMI coaching.  He has invested his life in coaching and mentoring Christian leaders in a variety of contexts including in collegiate ministry, as a seminary professor, professional coach, and pastor. Bob is member of the International Coach Federation and the Georgia Coaches Association.


Danya Jordan

Danya serves as Donor Relations Coordinator for BMI.  She has extensive experience in the non-profit ministry world and brings to BMI a solid background in fund development and donor relations.  She will assist BMI in being more intentional with relating to existing donors and developing a widening donor base to sustain the ministry in the years ahead.


Jim Redford

Jim has served with Dr. Henry Blackaby for nearly 20 years. He began serving with Henry in the office of Prayer & Spiritual Awakening at the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board (HMB) in Atlanta, Georgia. He has always shared Henry's heartbeat for a much-needed revival in America. His current assignment includes ministry planning and coordination, field correspondence, resource management, and general office administration. Jim resides in Atlanta.


Brett Pyle

Brett Pyle is an Execute Coach/Trainer for Blackaby Ministries International. He has vast experience in working with corporations worldwide. Brett is passionate about facilitating successful business & leadership transformations with leaders who run their own companies. He has an extensive background in consulting with corporate CEO's and brings that wisdom to his work with BMI.


Sarah Blackaby

Sarah is an Executive Administrative Assistant and the Social Media Coordinator for Blackaby Ministries International. Sarah was born and raised in Canada but moved to San Francisco with her husband, Daniel, in 2010. She graduated from art school in Vancouver, BC where she took Marketing & Management with a focus in fashion. Sarah is passionate about the arts, whether it is graphic design, painting, or literature.  She currently resides in Georgia.


Carrie Blackaby

Carrie is an administrative assistant at BMI. She is the daughter of Richard Blackaby and the oldest granddaughter of Henry Blackaby. She holds a BA in English from North Greenville University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded the Veda B. Sprouse award. She is currently working simultaneously on an MFA in Creative Writing from Converse College and an M.Div in Christian Apologetics from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She is an avid reader of nerdy literature, loves to travel, and is hopelessly addicted to Downton Abbey. She runs the blog Imagination’s Underground Railroad with her brother Daniel and is co-author of the book Off Course: Rethinking Best Parenting Practices So Your Child Can Thrive with her father.


Bob Payne

Bob is the Director of Experiencing God Weekends for Blackaby Ministries International.  He has served under the personal mentorship and teaching of Dr. Henry Blackaby, for twenty years.  Both Henry & Marilynn Blackaby are members of Bob’s Sunday School class.

Bob Payne has thirty years of corporate executive experience and has developed a reputation as a gifted teacher, preacher, discipleship leader, and prayer catalyst. Bob is a member of First Baptist Church Jonesboro, Licensed and Ordained through the Church. His formal training was initiated at the Georgia Military College, and later in life at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His thesis research was devoted to the discipline of church corporate prayer.  He has served in over 250 churches in the US, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, the middle-east, Nigeria and Sudan.  Bob also served as the Bi-Vocational Pastor for the Eastside Baptist Church Campus of FBC Jonesboro for over three years.  He has lead Experiencing God classes all over the world, as well as the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, and two seminaries in West Africa.
